Fix "Failed to load il2cpp" in Loop Dungeon - Incremental

The "Fatal error: Failed to load il2cpp" crash at startup affects some Windows 11 players. The developer traced it to Smart App Control blocking the unsigned GameAssembly.dll. The first workaround is to unblock the game files in Windows file properties; the second is to update Windows Security definitions and restart.

Method 1: unblock the game files

  1. In your Steam Library, right-click the game, then Manage, then Browse local files.
  2. Select all files in the folder (Ctrl + A).
  3. Right-click a selected file and choose Properties.
  4. On the General tab, tick Unblock, then Apply and OK.
  5. Restart the game.

Method 2: update security intelligence

  1. Open Windows Security, then Virus & threat protection.
  2. Under the protection updates section, click Check for updates.
  3. Restart the PC and launch again.

Why it happens

The game uses Unity's IL2CPP backend, which loads GameAssembly.dll. Because the game was not yet code-signed, Smart App Control treated the file as untrusted. The developer says a code-signing certificate and updated Unity dependencies are coming as the permanent fix. If neither method works, the developer asks for your Windows 11 version and a screenshot through Steam discussions.
